The Ministry of Defense of Independent Bangladesh was formed at the end of December 1971 with the conviction of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time, to build a modern and beautiful defense system for Bangladesh. From the Secretariat, the Ministry was shifted to the High Court building in 1982 and to the present building at Ganobhaban Complex in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in 1993.Initially it consisted of 14 departments / agencies but at present the ministry is being run with 25 departments / agencies. In the organizational structure of the ministry, the number of posts has increased from 224 to 232. The Hon'ble Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is in charge of the Ministry of Defense.The use of modern technology, timely action initiatives and as part of a realistic and long-term action plan, the Ministry and its affiliated departments / agencies continue to work with sincerity and dedication. Capacity building and modernization of the Ministry of Defense and its military and civilian institutions will further strengthen the efforts to build an independent, sovereign, happy, prosperous and progressive Bangladesh.National development and modernization is an ongoing and continuous process.
