The Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Authority was formed in 1985 through an ordinance. Later, the gazette published on 19 December 2007, the body was renamed as Bangladesh Bridge Authority. The Bangladesh Bridge Authority is a government statutory body with a total manpower of 386. According to Bangladesh Bridge Authority Act, 2016 implementation and maintenance of bridges of 1500 meters or more, toll roads, flyovers, expressways, Tunnel, causeways, ring roads, etc. have been assigned.
